Dear clients, friends and conference participants,
On the 19 September 2017, McDermott Will & Emery hosted the seventh annual Munich M&A Conference (MuMAC), welcoming 280 participants representing financial investors, family offices and operating companies. The insightful discussions and engaged participation of the attendees helped make this year’s MuMAC another successful event.
Our 2017 conference saw an array of though-provoking and thorough discussions on recent economic, political, cultural, financial and legal developments in the M&A and private equity markets. A few of the topics that our panels debated included outbound investment from the United States into Europe, distressed sectors and their impact on M&A, what strategic dealmakers look for when selecting targets, and the differing models and strategies employed by a broad range of family offices. Through our case studies, we gained insight into what could be learned from the recent sales of Powertrain and Symetis.
We are thankful to our co-sponsors PwC and our conference partners, Bryan, Garnier & Co., Lincoln International, Raymond James, Oaklins and the Serafin Unternehmensgruppe, as well as our media partners M&A Review and Unternehmer Edition.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to our keynote speaker, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, chair of the Munich Security Conference. His analysis of the current geopolitical climate provided greater understanding of both the dangers of the current status and the importance of continuing the European Project. We were relieved to learn of the optimism with which Ambassador Ischinger views recent developments in both Germany and the European Union.
Additionally, we are grateful to our various panel participants for their contributions and discussions, detailed in the following pages. The dialogue was well suited to the grandeur of the location, with the grand ballroom and gallery of the Bayrischer Hof once again providing a beautiful venue.
We are happy to confirm that MuMAC will return in 2018, and will again be hosted at the Bayrischer Hof. We have invited a prestigious keynote speaker and look forward to hearing his thoughts on the current geopolitical situation. MuMAC 2018 will once again feature detailed and stimulating discussions on this year’s developments in the M&A and private equity world, as the experts on the panels’ debate recent changes and what the future may hold.
We invite you to note the date and location of this year’s conference, 25 September 2018 and look forward to seeing you then.
Until then, if we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
